i have plenty of NEW(s).
last night's sans serif is primed and ready for your aural receivings. i abused björk's spankin' new full release, volta, with great pleasure. the plink-plonk of min xiao-fen on the pipa puts i see who you are at the lip of my heaving wonts.
this weekend was spent gloriously, bathed in sunshine, sidewalk skedaddles and noodle splurpage. arms entwined with a co-conspirator, partaking in adventures both simple and complex. spinning in colour; the pull of faraway lands; the LP hisses until it is reset.
we are all host to the dirty and complicated; but despite our dishevels, the sky persists so blue. [beauty in between.]
i've officially declared this recipe for chocolate currant cake to be possibly the most addictive thing this side of the atlantic. it's become my desserty modus operandi. :) but inspired by holly's fantastic batter, here's a new recipe for chocolate stout cake i look forward to testing (and tasting) out.
although i feel like i'm pretty adventurous when it comes to cocktail culture (mmmm, the campari is for me, thank you so much), the egg cocktails mixed by misty at green street grill are on a completely new echelon. yes, it's exactly what you think: raw eggs (either the white, the yolk, or the big kablammo WHOLE THING) shaken (and emulsified) with fantastic ingredients into a frothy, creamy, silky, sippable concoction. look out for my writeup about them in next week's (may 16) issue of the dig.
which brings me to this last explosive nugget of news.

on may 15, i will be officially crowned as lifestyles editor at boston's weekly dig. i cant express how ecstatic i am to be part of the big crazy family over there, and actually being paid for basically... living. i'll be coordinating stuff in all things regarding style, commerce, food, drink, and honing some serious editorial skillz on special issues and other such fantastics. it's my first full-time gig ever! i fear i will swoon upon seeing my name emblazoned on the masthead.
life couldn't be more rosy. it's like i'm still waiting to wake up from the dream.
