a lion's maine

according to wikipedia, "bernoulli's principle states that for an inviscid flow, an increase in the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure or a decrease in the fluid's potential energy."

which is precisely how i felt when i finally got the time, energy, money and gumption to unfurl all my portland, maine fantasies at once. the weekend after thanksgiving, while everyone was busy napping off the last of the pumpkin pie or getting cheeks pinched anew from farflung relatives, i packed lightly, grabbed my friend alex, and fled to the amtrak station as if my life depended on it.

30 hours + an endless list of fervent city recommendations + pent-up hopes and dreams = a whirlwind weekend. as we flew around portland with alarming velocity, the pressure ceased, the pieces soon fell into place, and we got to enjoy a staggering amount of delights--both deliberate and serendipitous. i can't wait to race back to relax ... to race once again.

{ duckfat, micucci grocery, shipyard brewery, rabelais, random shopping, rogues gallery, 555, hugo's, fore street, local 188, bintliff's, random tide-curbing, novare res, leroux kitchen, street & co, the corner bar, inn by the sea }
